9,478 Burritos served since May 2016
WHO WE ARE
We’re a community-supported group that gets together on the last Monday of each month to make and deliver burritos to the community in hunger or living on the street. We are 100% organized by volunteers and are passionate about bringing people together to make a difference. 100% of donations go towards purchasing and ingredients and supplies to make our food.
Burrito Project SF takes place on the last Monday of every month. The next Burrito Project SF event is Monday, May 21, 2018 due to Memorial Day on the last Monday. We will email out a sign up sheet for the next event two weeks prior to each event so Sign Up for our Email List to get notified when we post the Volunteer Sign Up sheet.
Each event takes about 3 hours from food prep to burrito assembly to delivery. We post a sign up sheet for volunteer shifts on Facebook and via our email list one week prior to our events. We welcome volunteers of all ages and ask that parents are present to supervise their children. Please make sure to register for a volunteer shift before the event so we know how many people to expect. Approximate times for volunteer shifts listed below.
- 4:00–5:00pm: Preparing rice, beans, and salsa (all vegan) – Slicing, dicing, and chopping.
- 5:00–5:45pm: Assembling burritos – Learn from our burrito rolling masters.
- 5:30–6:30pm: Delivery – Our dispatchers will send you to a specific location and give you a quick orientation.
- 6:00-7:00pm: Cleanup – Making and delivering is fun, but we also really appreciate help cleaning up!
Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as you will be on your feet for most of your shift. If you plan to deliver burritos, please bring a bag or backpack that can hold up to 20 burritos. We also feed all of our volunteers, so bring your appetite. Thank you in advance for your support!
