We’re a community-supported group that gets together to make and deliver burritos to the community in hunger or living on the street. We are 100% organized by volunteers and are passionate about bringing people together to make a difference. 100% of donations go towards purchasing ingredients and supplies to make and deliver food.
The next Burrito Project SF event is Monday, January 27, 2020. In December we will not be having our regular event, and encourage our volunteers to participate in Martin de Porres’ Holiday Cookie Exchange on Wednesday, December 18. Burrito Project SF takes place on the last Monday of every month unless otherwise posted.
Our volunteer sign up sheet is sent out via our email list (sign up below) and posted on Facebook one week prior to our events. Please sign up for a volunteer shift before the event. If you are interested in volunteering as a group, please email us and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Each event takes three hours from start to finish. We post a sign up sheet for volunteer shifts on Facebook and via our email list one week prior to our events.
We welcome volunteers of all ages but ask that anyone under 18 come with a parent or guardian. Please register for a volunteer shift before the event.
What to Bring
All volunteers should wear comfortable, close-toed shoes. Delivery volunteers please bring a bag that can hold up to 20 burritos. Gloves and aprons are provided.
Food Preparation 4:00-5:00pm
Help us prepare our vegan rice, beans, and salsa! Expect to be slicing, dicing, and chopping. Aprons and gloves provided.
Burrito Assembly 5:00-5:45pm
Learn how to roll the perfect burrito from our team. Gloves and aprons will be provided, wear comfortable shoes.
Burrito Delivery 5:45–6:30pm
Whether walking, biking, on transit, or driving we’ll give you a quick orientation and send you to a specific location.
Kitchen Clean Up 6:00-7:00pm
Making burritos is fun but it can be messy! We also need your help to clean up and really appreciate it.
Burrito Project SF is a fiscally-sponsored project of Martin de Porres MDP Foundation and is 100% volunteer run. Your donations are completely tax deductible and 100% of your donations go directly toward purchasing and delivering food to people living with hunger or housing insecurity in San Francisco. Burrito Project SF was founded in 2016 by Jimmy Ryan. A native of Los Angeles, Jimmy started as a volunteer at Burrito Project LA. When he moved to San Francisco, he started to volunteer at Martin de Porres House of Hospitality on a weekly basis. With the support of the community at Martin's, Burrito Project SF was launched. Since then Burrito Project SF has grown and is organized by a committee each month. Burrito Project SF is part of a national movement to provide a simple meal to improve the lives of people living in hunger or with housing insecurity. There are Burrito Projects located throughout North America including Los Angeles, Orange County, Oakland, Salt Lake City, and others.
